The\u00a0Serra del Montsi\u00e0<\/strong>\u00a0mountain range runs parallel to the Mediterranean coast in the southern part of the Terres de l\u2019Ebre. These relatively high mountains are very close to the coast and are a geographical reference point and a privileged viewpoint overlooking the counties of Baix Ebre, Montsi\u00e0, Baix Maestrat and Els Ports.<\/p>\n

Their highest point is La Torreta del Montsi\u00e0 (764 m) in the middle of the range. Another emblematic peak is La Foradada, to the north of La Torreta, a magnificent natural viewpoint over the Ebro Delta. Formed 25 million years ago during the Alpine orogeny, the range is noteworthy for its unique calcareous relief, the preservation of its representative natural Mediterranean ecosystems, and its biogeographical interest. It is the southernmost boundary for some extra-Mediterranean species.<\/p>\n

Despite the large number of people that frequent it and the effects of forest fires, this coastal nature area remains largely unspoilt, which is why it has been included in the Catalan Plan for Areas of Natural Interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
